Mellieha Home
Officially opened on 1st March 2008 and completed in a record of 323 days, Mellieha Home operates under a Public Private Partnership scheme between the government and Caremalta. The Dar il-Madonna tal-Mellieha is a community home which not only provides accommodation for older persons but also offers health services to the locals through the adjacent ‘berga’. It also incorporates a Day Centre and provides a night shelter through a designated area in the home.
Admission
Our residents are admitted through the Elderly and Community Care Department. Residents will be invited to attend an orientation visit prior the admission to the Home. During this visit new residents will be given a tour of the facility and briefed on the facilities offered at the Home.

Accomodation and Room facilities
The rooms are fully air-conditioned with balconies or terraces overlooking breathtaking views of the Maltese Fliegu including Gozo and Comino All rooms have an en-suite shower with easy access; kitchenette, electrical motorised beds, a nurse call system, telephone and a television connection

Services include:
- General requests and information
- Room service orders
- Podology and hairdressing bookings
- Newspaper orders
- Flower orders
- Reporting of faults in the rooms
- Taxi service and accessible vehicles
Meals
Continental breakfast lunch and dinner are served daily in the dining room, offering a 3 course rotating menu. Special care is given to residents’ needs and dietary requirements.
Personal Care
Laundry – Residents’ personal clothes can be washed in-house.
Linen Service – Sheets and pillow cases are provided in house.
Chapel Services
Rosary and Holy Mass are celebrated regularly in our Chapel dedicated to our Lady of Mellieha. Holy Communion is also held in the residents’ rooms. Residents may also choose to watch these services live on their television in their own bedroom.
Communication with Residents
Regular meetings are held between the management and the residents
Safety & Security
Smoking – Smoking is only permitted in designated areas outside the home.
Fire Safety – All rooms are fitted with smoke detectors and a fire evacuation plan. All corridors and public areas are equipped with fire extinguishers and fire doors.
