ANTHONY CARUANA
Facility Manager, Villa Messina
Anthony started his career with a German company, in the field of Industrial Thermal Management. He then moved with a leading company specializing in design, engineering, and management of the built environment, a subsidiary of an international luxury hotel brand, forming part of a highly respected group of companies, where he was involved in various local and overseas projects.
In 2018, Anthony joined CareMalta as an Assistant Facility Manager at Casa Marija. Then, in June 2021 he moved into the same role at Villa Messina. He has recently finished his studies at the University of Malta, within the Faculty of Social Wellbeing in Geriatrics and Gerontology. In July 2022, he was appointed Facility Manager of Villa Messina.
NICOLETTE SANT
Facility Manager, Roseville
A certified Phlebotomist, Nicolette joined CareMalta in 1997 and over the years she has moved up the ranks and worked in all of CareMalta’s homes. Nicolette started her career as a carer at Casa Arkati and she quickly became one of the first group of Senior Carers. Continuing to grow in her career, Nicolette was appointed first-ever Care Ambassador, focusing on training new recruits in CareMalta’s homes. A couple of years later, she was once again entrusted with an unprecedented role – that of Lead Carer at Roseville during the home’s first months of operation. Upon completion of her Diploma in Pragmatic Leadership for Managers, Nicolette was appointed Assistant Facility Manager. After the major refurbishment at Villa Messina, she joined the Villa Messina team and had been appointed Facility Manager.
In May 2022 Nicolette was entrusted with the role of Home Manager at Casa Apap Bologna, one of HILA’s homes, another branch of CareMalta’s Group and in 2023 she was appointed as Facility Manager at Roseville.
CARL CARUANA
Services Manager, Mellieħa Home
Backed by 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Carl started off his career as Night Manager at The Bugibba Holiday Complex. In 1994, he was promoted as Front Office Duty Manager at the newly built Coastline Hotel in Salina Bay. Over the years, he managed a 300 bed Aparthotel in Xemxija, and later took the responsibility of Front Office Manager at the Radisson Blu Golden Sands Resort & Spa.
Carl joined CareMalta in 2012 when he was appointed as Facility Manager at Casa Arkati. He then moved to Zammit Clapp residential home and also served as a Facility Manager at Casa Marija. In 2023 he was appointed as Services Manager at Mellieħa Home.
LARA GRECH
Facility Manager, Zammit Clapp Residential Home
A critical care nurse by profession since 2011, Lara joined first joined HILA Homes in June 2021 as Home Manager for Dar Bjorn in Qormi. Throughout her years working in the Intensive Treatment Unit, ITU, at Mater Dei, Lara had the opportunity to make a difference during a person’s vulnerable moment in life. This involved working in a fast-paced medical environment which helped her gain communication, interpersonal and critical thinking skills. In 2023 Lara was appointed as Facility Manager Zammit Clapp Residential Home. Lara holds a Degree in Nursing Studies and a Masters in Critical Care awarded by Cardiff University.
EDEL BORG MIZZI
Facility Manager, Casa Arkati
Edel has been employed with Caremalta since 2003. Her first role within the company has been that of a Care Assistant at Casa Arkati. After 7 years, she had a 2-year experience as a Senior Care Assistant at Roseville, and later as a Lead Care Assistant at both Roseville and Żejtun Home, where she was responsible for the care department. During the same period, she was engaged as a Training and Development officer for another year.
She recently finished her studies at the University of Malta, within the Faculty of Social Wellbeing in Geriatrics and Gerontology. In October 2020, she started her journey as Assistant Facility Manager at the Żejtun Home and in July 2021, she joined Casa Arkati as an Assistant Facility Manager. Edel also served as Facility Manager at Żejtun Home in 2022 and in 2023 she was appointed as Facility Manager at Casa Arkati.
JOHN SCIBERRAS
Facility Manager, Żejtun Home
John Sciberras has been appointed as Facility Manager at Żejtun Home in 2023. John has been part of CareMalta for the past 23 years. He started his career with the company in January 2011 as a Professional Chef at Villa Messina. During the years he managed to climb the ladder of opportunities offered within the company. In 2020 he was appointed as Assistant Facility Manager at Roseville.
John graduated from the Institute of Tourism Studies as a Chef and he is currently reading a Master’s Programme in Elderly Care Management to further develop the technical, leadership, and management skills required to ensure good quality care services.
STUART CARUANA
Facility Manager, Casa San Paolo
Stuart graduated with a Diploma in Hotel Supervisory Management from the Institute of Tourism Studies in 1998. From a career spanning over nearly 24 years, he has worked both abroad and in Malta and has been part of two pre-opening teams and various task forces. Working mainly in the five-star category of the hospitality industry, he started off as a waiter and worked his way up to Food & Beverage Manager.
In 2017, he joined CareMalta’s sister company CaterEssence, as Deputy General Manager of the Hotels & Restaurants Division. He joined CareMalta as Facility Manager of the Żejtun Home in November 2020 and in 2022 he was appointed as Facility Manager at Casa San Paolo.
ROBERT GRECH
Facility Manager
A physiotherapist by profession since 1989, Robert joined the group in September 2009 as Facility Manager of Villa Messina Home in Rabat. From 2013 to 2017, Robert overlooked the management of LiveLife Rehabilitation Centre, Sliema.
After 4 years in the physical rehabilitation field Robert was once again appointed Villa Messina Facility Manager in 2017. In 2020, Robert was appointed Senior Manager within the senior management team, was involved in the management of Casa San Paolo during the lockdown, and later at Casa Arkati. In November 2020, Robert was appointed People Operations Manager for the CareMalta Group. He also served as a Facility Manager at Casa Arkati until September 2023.
Robert holds a Diploma in Physiotherapy, a Diploma in Management, and a Master’s in Strategy, Leadership and Change Management.
ANTOINE BORG
Facility Manager, Casa Marija
Antoine Borg started his journey with CareMalta back in 2009, within the Kitchen department at Mellieħa Home. After some while, Antoine had joined the Front Office team within the same facility where he focused his duties on the needs of the residents and their relatives.
In 2018 he was appointed as a Facility Administrative Assistant of a new Nursing Home, Casa Marija.
Upon completion of his Diploma in Leadership and Management, he was appointed as an Assistant Facility Manager at Cospicua Home. After nearly a year of assuming the role, he was appointed as Facility Manager. In 2023 he was re assigned to Casa Marija as Facility Manager.
